Why homebirth?

Because we view pregnancy and birth are normal, healthy events.

There are many advantages to homebirth. Some of the reasons women cite about why they choose to birth their babies at home: for some, it is the need for privacy, the desire to birth their baby in the sanctity of their home, they want to be with people they know and who know them, they want more of a one-on-one relationship with their care provider, to maintain control rather than surrendering to protocols, They want the type of care that enhanced family relationship and bonding with their newborn.

Prenatal Care

Getting to know each other

We schedule longer appointments for our clients so that we can address all of their questions and concerns.

Our midwife is a solo practitioner, that means that you get to meet with her at every appointment. As you get to know her and she gets to know you, she’ll know exactly what you desire your birth experience to be like and help you create a birth map that reflects your beliefs and preferences.

All prenatal appointments are held in the convenience of your home. Our care is thorough and personalized so that you have the healthiest pregnancy experience possible.

We do accept late transfer when possible.

Labor Support

A Hands-Off Approach

Our philosophy is geared to promote a natural birth process by keeping birth undisturbed and interfering with it as little as possible.

When we enter your birthing environment, we join you calmly and quietly as you labor. Our role is to observe you, follow your lead, give you hands on support and encouragement, and to help you feel as comfortable as possible.

Knowing that your team is right there for you makes you feel reassured and safe.

Birth Can Be Empowering

While the experience of birth can be challenging, it can make women feel strong and deeply empowered.

Immediate Postpartum and Newborn Care

Our team remains with you for about 3 hours following the delivery, making sure that you and baby are adjusting well and that you have all the information on what to expect to be normal or would prompt a phone call to the midwife after we leave you.

A few hours after we leave, we’ll do a follow up call phone with you at least once or twice until we return the next day for a postpartum visit.

… and when you’re in bed, snug as a bug in a rug, we’ll give you a big hug and let you rest.

Follow-up care

Until next time …

We return the next day and again a week after you give birth to continue to check on mom and baby’s well being. We will do another visit just before baby turns a month old and will do one final visit for mom at 8 weeks postpartum.

We also offer postpartum care to women who had a hospital birth but desire more postpartum support in the comfort of their home.
